ABOUT ME…

Hello and welcome! My name is Richard Ellis, I'm 58 years old and have been very happily married for almost 37 years. I have four beautiful children and 6 adorable grandchildren. I have lived in Tunbridge Wells in Kent, England, for 41 years but I spent my formative years growing up in south-east London - some would say I still have a slight London accent!

I have been railway modelling for as long as I can remember and for the vast majority of that time in 7mm scale. You may have noticed whilst perusing this website that I have a strong leaning towards the Midland Railway - not from any affiliation but mostly because SW Johnson designed the most beautiful locomotives ever (IMHO) and red is my favourite colour!

I love modelling with detail in mind and strive to make things as realistic as I can. I enjoy the process of working through constructional challenges and a design brief almost as much as enjoying the finished product. I view it as a journey to enjoy just as much as the final destination. Techniques and skills need to be constantly evolving and I hope that I can inspire you in your own journey.

Railways and their environments are a fascinating subject to study and model and extremely varied. And so what you see here is a small selection of what I can do for you, so please throw at me your most ambitious thoughts or one-off small order - either way, I look forward to hearing from you and working with you.
