Pigeon Baskets
Pigeon Baskets
Not so long ago, pigeon fanciers used to race their pigeons, by holding them in baskets (or panniers to give them their proper name) like these whilst transporting them on specially laid-on trains. The train would take them to the race start where they would be released to fly home. This product is a fascinating slice of social history and I don’t think I’ve ever seen them sold anywhere else.
My manufacturing method evokes the distinctive look of the real thing with ventilation grills around the top, quick-release flaps and a very, very small strip of wood at the front top edge which acted as a stiffener to the lid.
Ready to position on your platform. Just needs a throng of pensive fanciers awaiting the start gun!
Supplied in lots of 6.
