Fine Sieved Soil. The geology around Tunbridge Wells (where I am based) is mainly Wealden sandstone, which means the soil is also sandy. Excellent for model railway scenics but not so good for horticultural water retention!

Can be used on its own, or in conjunction with Fine Sieved Wood Ash for the very best results.

This fine sandy soil has been dried and sieved and is ready to use. The ways in which it can be used are many and varied; from basic ground cover in roads, goods yards, pavements, fields, hedgerows, grass, general weathering of wagon interiors etc. For a basic ground cover, simply sprinkle evenly over wet PVA. Vacuum off the excess when dry. You may decide it doesn't need any further treatment. But if you wish, further layers can be repeated and enhanced with thin paint washes or weathering powders. For particularly fine textures, sieve though a tea-strainer. As this is a 100% natural product, some shade variation is to be expected, but generally it is of a mid- to light-grey colour. A truly versatile and durable product.
